Omisore tasks Yoruba, Hausa on peaceful co-existence, visits Ooni, Hausa leaders

Former Deputy Governor of Osun state and a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, on Wednesday urged both Yoruba and Hausa residents of Ile-Ife to maintain the status quo of living together in peace and harmony which has yielded peaceful co-existence before a recent clash that occurred some weeks ago.

Omisore who made the call during a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja 11 and Hausa community at Sabo also urged all Nigerians, irrespective of political or cultural affiliation to be more committed to peace and stability in and across the country.

Speaking during the visit tagged, “A Walk for Peace’ that commenced at the Ooni Palace in Ile Ife to Oba Okunade Sijuwade Hall Enuwa and ended at Sabo area of the ancient city, Omisore emphasized that there is the need for Nigerians irrespective of their tribe to at all times give peace a chance by living together as brothers and sisters.

The former deputy governor maintained that the time had come for all and sundry to ensure peaceful co-existence to protect lives and property.

Senator Omisore pointed out that, “Peace is required for development of Ile Ife and Osun state and Nigeria in general and that everyone must be committed to it.”

The Obalufe, Oba Idowu Adediwura commended the courage of Otunba Omisore in an attempt to dose the tension ensure that peace prevail in the city.

In his remarks while receiving Omisore and his entourage on behalf of the Ooni, Oba Adediwura who is also the second in command to the Ooni said the initiative would go a long way in achieving peace and tranquility in the ancient city.

Omisore was, however, received at the Sabo by the Arewa leaders in Ifeland.
