Sports fans have commended Nigeria’s U-23 male football team, DreamTeam VI, for their heroics in beating Denmark 2-0 to reach the semi-finals of the Rio Olympics football event.
The fans told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that in spite of the team’s challenges, they had continued to perform credibly well.
Femi Adefeso, a sports journalist, said that they showed their patriotism.
“It’s a brilliant performance from them; they showed their love for their fatherland.
“The next step is to scale through the German hurdle and hopefully win gold in the final,’’ Adefeso said.
An ex-international, Bright Omokharo, said the Dream Team were fantastic and should be given the credit of doing the nation proud.
“They are indeed thorough professionals in the game as they step on the field to deliver the stuff they are very good at.
“They have not allowed their financial situation to becloud their performance on the field; indeed they deserve a lot of credit.
“We wish them greatest luck as they engage Germany,” Omokharo told NAN.
