Olubadan’s daughter, Taiwo Adetunji declares for Oyo Assembly seat

One of the daughters of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Taiwo Adetunji on Thursday declared her intention to contest the Oyo State House of Assembly seat under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2019 general elections.

Adetunji, who is seeking to represent Ibadan South West 1 state constituency, made her intention known at the constituency’s secretariat in Ibadan.

The monarch’s daughter, while addressing hundreds of her supporters and members of the party, added that she was not taking advantage of her position as one of the children of Olubadan, saying that she was ready to serve the people.

She said, “My willingness to serve my people and the importance of getting what my people need made me come into politics. I am assuring my people in the constituency that I will ensure they get what they need. I have the capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy to my constituents.

“It is true that my father is the Olubadan of Ibadan land, but I am not contesting in order to use my father’s influence to get the party’s ticket and win, I want people to know that I have the capacity and I am not going to capitalise on my father’s influence. I want my people to support me for what and who I am.”

Adetunji has a bachelor degree in Economics Education from the Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo and masters degree in Finance from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso.
