Oliseh turns attention to CHAN 2016

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has insisted he is not concerned about Egypt occupying the top spot in Nigeria’s AFCON 2017 qualifying group.

The Pharoahs currently lead with six points after winning their first two games, while the Eagles have four points, following last weekend’s draw against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

Oliseh, who will leave for Belgium this week, says his priority now is the CHAN 2016 tournament for home-based players.

“We are taking each game as it comes and so far in two games we are yet to concede a goal and there has been improvement in the team,” he told completesportsnigeria.com.

“Yes Egypt are in the lead and with a superior goal difference but we know what we have to do to qualify and we are going to give our best, but now it’s time for the CHAN competition.

“There are friendlies confirmed for October which will help the team blend more.”

Nigeria will play Burkina Faso in a CHAN qualifier between October 16-18, while the return leg comes up between October 23 and 25.

The winner of the tie, will qualify for next year’s competition in Rwanda.
