With less than one month to the crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt, Sunday Oliseh has resigned as coach of the Super Eagles.

The former national team captain cited unpaid salaries, lack of cooperation, among other factors as reasons for his decision to quit.

He wrote on his official page: “I feel fortunate, blessed and eternally grateful for having had the honour to Play, Captain & Coach this great Nation of ours, Nigeria.

“Due to Contract violations, lack of Support, Unpaid wages, Benefits to my players, Asst. Coaches & myself, I resign as Super Eagles Chief Coach.”

This news was confirmed by Toyin Ibitoye, who is the media officer of the team.

He tweeted: “My best wishes to you coach @SundayOOliseh and your family. God will bless your future endeavors. Thanks for the warm memories.”

Oliseh was appointed as the new Nigeria coach in July 2015, after Stephen Keshi was sacked for breach of contract.
