Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has confirmed that Chima Akas will captain the team at the 2016 African Nations Championship, which kicks off next week.

Warri Wolves striker, Gbolahan Salami, was the skipper of the side during the qualifiers, but has been left out of the squad, as he is close to joining an unnamed European club.

Paul Onobi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Austin Obaroakpo are in contention to be named deputy captain.

Nigeria will start their CHAN campaign against Niger Republic on January 18, at the Stade Régional Nyamirambo, Kigali. The other nations in Group C are Guinea and Tunisia.
