The former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, has declared that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki was never meant to emerge as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Saraki, who was a leading PDP Presidential aspirant had lost the party’s ticket to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar over the weekend.
Abubakar had polled a total of 1532 votes to beat 12 other contestants during the party’s primary election in Port Harcourt, Rivers State
But, Okupe said Saraki fought a good fight and ran what he termed “the best campaign.”
In a series of tweets, Okupe wrote: “THIS IS the MORNING AFTER.
“The #GrowNigeria team lost. But I’m proud of our leader and aspirant, A.B. SARAKI, for his vision, courage, and brilliance.
“We fought a good fight and ran the best campaign. The best media team,& wt d most youthful http://appeal.It was not meant to be. Glory be to God.
“Atiku’s nomination as the Presidential flag bearer of the PDP is a victory for the RESTRUCTURING AGENDA. This is believed by the majority of leaders and people from SS, SE and SW Zones as the panacea for socio-political injustices, lack of equity etc that has bedevilled our nation for decades.”
