Okowa has not endorsed any candidate for Warri Assembly seat – Aide

Contrary to rumors making rounds, the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Ehiedu Charles Aniagwu has stated that Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has not endorsed the candidature of any aspirant vying for the position of Warri South Constituency 1 in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Aniagwu made the statement in a chat with DAILY POST on Thursday.

He dismissed rumours that the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Mr. Mofe Matthew Edema had been endorsed by the Governor.

Aniagwu said, “It is not true. Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has not endorsed anybody. He believes in democratic principles and as such, the contest is open. The governor has no vote in Warri South Constituency 1. However, the people should vote wisely for their candidates.”

DAILY POST reports that the political actors, including renowned Warri based lawyer, Mr. Robinson Ariyo(All Progressives Congress, APC), Mr. Godwin Abigor( Social Democratic Party, SDP) and Mofe Matthew Edema(People Democratic Party, PDP) are already reportedly scheming and canvassing for support.

It would be recalled that the seat became vacant following the death and burial of the former member, Hon. (Mrs.) Omowumi Beatrice Udoh.

She died as a result of cancer related diseases in a London hospital.
