Non-indigenes schooling in Imo state will by now be celebrating as the State Governor, Rochas Okorocha on Wednesday announced a 50 per cent reduction in their tuition fees in all state-owned tertiary institutions, assuring that the state government will pay the balance as an extension of its free education programme.

The Governor disclosed this at the Government house in Owerri when the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and Student Union Governments (SUGs) of tertiary institutions in the state, paid him a courtesy visit.

DailyPost gathers that the gesture is for non-indigenes in Imo State University, Imo State Polytechnic and College of Health Sciences, Amaigbo, whose counterparts of Imo origin are enjoying free education.

Okorocha however used the occasion to assure of his administration’s commitment towards making education free at all levels.

The Governor appealed to other state governors to implement the same policy as a way of creating similar opportunities for Nigerian students in other tertiary institutions.
