or the second time in the life of this administration, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Wednesday presented the 2015 budget estimates of N4.3trillion before the National Assembly.
She laid the document containing the proposed budget while appearing separately before the Senate and the House of Representatives some hours ago.
The presentation was not carried out before a joint sitting of both chambers as has been the tradition. President Goodluck Jonathan was earlier reported to have delegated Okonjo-Iweala to present the estimates on his behalf, a move which is permitted by the 1999 Constitution as amended.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala visited the two chambers for the task with a retinue of other Ministers as well as the Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation, Dr. Bright Okogu. No other speeches were made during the brief ceremony.
