The governing council of the Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, has suspended all principal officers of the institution over alleged financial mismanagement.
DAILY POST reports that those suspended include the rector of the institution, Mr Matthew Oladeji, and other principal officers.
Oke Ogun Polytechnic, which was one of the satellite campuses of the Polytechnic Ibadan before it was granted autonomy during the first term of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, is one of the institutions owned by Oyo state government.
The suspension order was contained in a memo signed by Professor Moshood Tijani, the Chairman, Governing Council of the institution.
According to the letter, which was sent to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State through the Commissioner for Education, the council said the affected officers have been queried in respect to series of financial frauds.
The letter reads, “They have been queried in respect of series of allegations of fraudulent practices and gross misconduct”.
The council said it has constituted a five-man investigation panel at one of its meetings to give the concerned officers fair hearing.
“Thus in line with the disciplinary procedure of the Institution as highlighted in the Institution’s Edict; Part 8, Sub-section 28 (3 &4), Mr M. Oladeji led substantive management (i.e. the Principal Officers) have been placed on suspension pending the final determination of the investigation”.
It was gathered that after series of warnings by the governing council, the principal officers were first asked to proceed on compulsory leave before this letter of suspension was issued.
But the Rector of the institution, Mr. Oladeji, when asked to react, insisted that he has not receive any letter.
He said, “I have not received such a letter. I’m on leave”.
