Since the beginning of time, it is usual for government of various kind to have an official scribe, tabloid, or megaphone where they screamed above the voices of opposition, but the indecency with which Nigerian government image maker practice its trade left much to be desired, be it in person of Abati or a freelance like Wale.
In the imagination of this people, there should be a certain programme planted in the mind of Nigerian where they can input only government version of reality and other reality as been lie, for when Dele Momodu, pointed out the failings of the administration of President Goodluck, though while Wale will approve of Oby Ezekwesili’s agitation about the depletion of the foreign reverse which Dele emphasized in his opinion, the former still criticise him for raising his voice, anything short of praising the President in their confused mind is a crime. They will readily kill the man in the hope to kill the message, they will rather everybody is silence in face of tyranny against the country. To them, the only way to explain Dele’s opinion is if he desired a government appointment.
If I must mention it, has Odunsi forgotten so soon, the threshold which brought President Goodluck Jonathan to power, that most people won’t go near PDP, if not because they could connect with the person of President Jonathan, how can anybody forget the soul appealing campaign slogan of “I had no shoes”, and how was a fuel price increment of the administration compensate for the trust the people repose on the president, that is without talking of all other campaign promises not kept, how will Nigerian ever trust anybody ever again after this?
Away from President Jonathan’s promise denied and services not delivered, I cannot believe any writer of Wale Odunsi’s standard in Nigeria will descend so low as to say Dele Momodu’s opinion on the President was suddenly to get a political appointment, when Dele has been a public commentator for over two decades or more, first as a journalist, then as an Editor in Chief, and as a Publisher, I can’t even imagine any true Nigerian will draw a line across OVATION, which is one of the international brand indigenous to this country, it is no doubt this is personal vendetta, but whatever the matter is between this two, DailyPost Nigeria should have censored this article.
On MKO, contrary to Wale’s aspersion, Dele never abandoned his mentor, and it was until I read Wale’s counter on Dele that I took cognizance of the fact that in Obafemi Awolowo University where the later graduated, He sponsored MKO inter faculty soccer tournament, that takes place every session in honour of MKO. Has been there and was there till I left the school in year 2008, and I am sure it will still be in place, is that in your opinion a man that will abandon his mentor?
Then you compared Dele Momodu with malam El Rufai, who only bump into writing lately because of a hidden agenda ahead of 2015, or a Oby Ezekwesili, where were this people when the cabal held Nigeria into ransom when Yar’ dua was sick, and they won’t swear in an acting President, anybody can seat in the comfort of their room and write, including you and I, but how many of this people will go through with their writing to the barricade with the masses, or confront the gun of the Nigerian police.
And about why we are all so dump not to see why we should not criticise President Goodluck Jonathan, the case is like the proverbial naked dancer, who dance all over the places at night, without a thought that morning breaks soon, (alakisa ton jo loru, bope ile a mo lola), because soon or later, the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan will be over, and then everybody else will be forgotten, but not the President, and what will matter then is how he has been able to change the situation of millions of Nigerian children who everyday goes to school without shoe, or without riding in a car, and how far he has been able to improve this despicable situation or worsen it, my time, your time, Dele’s time and the time of the Mr President will past, but the history and memory of our time will never past.
