Oil probe: Orosanye faults report as Ribadu accuses him of lacking integrity

The Chairman Committee on Petroleum Revenue Task Force, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and a member of the committee, Mr Steve Orosanye, yesterday openly disagreed during the presentation of the committee’s report to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Orosanye faulted the report saying it was filed with unconfirmed figures and stating further that members of the committee were not carried along in the entire process.

However, Ribadu had accused the former Head of Service of not working with the committee ,but rather lobbied to be on the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) whilst the committee was still investigating the company and others in the oil sector.

Ribadu said, “Steve Orosanye never participated one day in the deliberations of this committee; not even a single day.”

“The first time we saw Steve was at the end of the work when we were talking about recoveries from companies that he jumped in. All the members are here, they can attest to what I have said.”

He further revealed Mr Orosanye, got himself appointed as a member of the board of Directors of the NNPC.

Another member of the committee had also raised issues with the report. Mr Bernard Oti on the other hand was alleged to have secured an appointment as NNPC’s Director of Finance while the committee’s investigation lasted.
