Ohanaeze youths hail Military for succeeding over Boko Haram

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has applauded officers and men of the Nigerian military for the recent successes recorded in the war against insurgency in the North-East, considering the recapture of more towns previously occupied by the Boko Haram insurgents.

National President of the youth wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, told Punch on Sunday in Umuahia, that the Nigerian military had, by its recent victories over the terrorists, restored public confidence.

While saluting the courage and dexterity of the troops involved in the war against insurgency, he stated that the troops had given hope and future to Nigerians by freeing more towns from the Boko Haram occupation.

The OYC leader went on to commend the military authorities for boosting the morale of the troops, urging them to sustain the tempo until the insurgents were completely routed.

He expressed strong confidence that the few towns still under Boko Haram occupation would be liberated before the general elections if the current fighting spirit and patriotism demonstrated by the troops were sustained.

Isiguzoro commended Nigerian neighbours, whose troops are involved in the ongoing campaign against Boko Haram, for their support, noting that it is only through collaborations among African countries that terrorists can be decimated from the continent

He expressed the support of Igbo youths to the Federal Government in the renewed efforts to flush out the insurgents before the rescheduled elections.

He also noted that the youths would “disappoint any politician thinking of using us as tools for political violence because we have resolved to salvage the future of Nigeria from the hands of selfish politicians who belong to the past.

“Never again shall the youths allow unpatriotic elements ruin our common destiny”, he said, assuring the youths that Nigeria will survive the forthcoming polls, contrary to fears in some quarters.

“This time around, any politician banking on the youths to foment troubles should rather lead the war with his own sons and daughters as his foot soldiers and not Nigerian youths, who are now wiser,” he said.
