Ogun Polytechnic female student arrested for possession of gun

One Miss Oreoluwa Adedamola, a 20-year-old female student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been arrested by the men of the Ogun State Anti-Robbery Squad, for being in possession of a locally-made gun.

She is believed to be a 200 level Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Mass Communication student and was among the suspects paraded by the Ogun State police commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, on Tuesday at the state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

According to reports, she was arrested while travelling in a mini-truck with one Sikiru Kelani, on August 29 at Ifo, at about 11:45 pm.

On interrogation, Miss Adedamola said it was Kelani that hid the gun inside her bag without her knowledge.

“I met Kelani through my late boyfriend, Akeem.

“On the day I was arrested, I came from Lagos to attend the candle light procession organized for my late boyfriend in Abeokuta.

“I went to a friend’s place after the event. I wanted to sleep over at her place but was told she travelled out of town to Ijebu Ode. So, Kelani offered to accommodate me for the night. I was already sleeping when he woke me up some minutes after 9 pm and said we were travelling to Oshodi in Lagos. I was baffled because it was already late,” she noted.

“He lied to me that there was problem in the house, and we had to leave. He told me we should use the opportunity to attend a party being organized by his friend in Lagos. On our way, he stopped to see some people at Ori Iyanrin in Abeokuta before we continued our trip.”

Kelani, a Marketing student at MAPOLY and an alleged member of Buccaneer confraternity, in his statement, confessed that he was the one who hid the gun in Adedamola’s bag when he sighted the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on the highway at Ifo.

“We were on our way to Oshodi, Lagos, to attend a friend’s party when we were arrested,” Kelani added.
