The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Samson Tella, who allegedly stabbed his close friend to death during an argument.

Tella allegedly stabbed his close friend, Abiodun Abdulkareem, to death on Tuesday at Iyesi Ota, in the Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the state after they had engaged in a hot argument which later degenerated to a fight that saw the suspect stab the deceased on the neck with a broken bottle.

Abdulkareem reportedly died after he was rushed to a private hospital in the area.

Confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, told newsmen on Friday that Tella was arrested by policemen attached to the Onipanu Division of the command after another friend reported the case to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, in charge of the division.

He said Abdulkareem died after he had lost a lot of blood.

Adejobi added that the police has commenced investigations into the murder and the suspect would soon be charged to court at its conclusion.

“The case was transferred to Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, DCII, Eleweran Abeokuta,” Adejobi said in a statement.
