The Chairman of Ogun State Chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Samuel Adesanya at the weekend announced the suspension of their three-weeks-old strike.

This development implies that courts in the state will now resume on Monday(today).

The workers had embarked on strike over the failure of the state government to implement a special salary scale for them.

Speaking after the congress of the union held at the State High Court Complex, Abeokuta, Adesanya said the union called off the strike following the intervention of the bodies of retired judges, the Nigeria Bar Association, and Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity.

He said the state government has assured that it would begin the implementation of the new salary scale from January 2013.

The union leader warned that the strike would resume if the state government renege on its promises, especially the agreement both parties reached on the new salary structure.
