Ogun State governor-elect, Dapo Abiodun and a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Ladi Adebutu have sheathe their swords.

The peace meeting, which held on Monday, was reportedly brokered by Adebutu’s father, Chief Kessington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu.

The two, who are in opposing parties, battled ahead of the governorship elections.

Days before the polls, Adebutu and the Sikirulai Ogundele-led faction of the PDP in Ogun endorsed the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Adekunle Akinlade.

This was after Adebutu failed in his legal bid to nullify the nomination of Sen. Buruji Kashamu, who was the INEC recognised PDP candidate.

Justice Abubakar Shittu of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, ruling in the case filled by Adebutu, held that the election primaries which produced him was conducted in violation of the law.

Abiodun, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner by the state Returning Officer for the governorship poll, Prof. Idowu Olayinka.

Abiodun scored a total of 241, 670 votes to clinch victory.

He beat his closest rival, Mr Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who came second with 222, 153 votes.

Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gboyega Isiaka, came third with 110, 422 votes while the PDP’s Kashamu, who scored 70,290 votes, was fourth.
