Ogun Government urges NASU to uphold professionalism

(NAN) Mr Timothy Adebowale, Commissioner in Ogun Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has advised members of Non-Academic Staff Union of Schools and Colleges (NASU) to give special attention to professionalism while discharging their duties.

He gave the advice on Monday in Abeokuta, during a meeting with the new State Executive members of the union.

Adebowale said that the mission to ensure qualitative teaching must not be left only in the hands of teachers, adding that these duties should be a collective responsibility of both the teaching and non-teaching staff.

“In order to remain relevant in the service, members of your union need to enrol for professional courses so as to further improve on their areas of specialisation,” he said.

He said that TESCOM would continue to give recognition to the union because of the priority given to education by the state government.

He said that the commission had created an enabling environment for members of the union to effectively discharge their duties.

Earlier, NASU Chairperson, Mrs Christiana Emmanuel, commended the commission for working tirelessly at ensuring that the teaching and non teaching staffers were working in line with the agenda of the government.

She commended Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun for prompt payment of salaries.(NAN)
