Ogun at 40: Amosun’s government impoverishing residents – Hon. Ladi Adebutu

The people of Ogun State have never had it so bad than under the administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as many have been rendered homeless and source livelihood destroyed to pave ways for the road constructions going on in the state. This opinion was expressed in Abeokuta on Friday by the Chairman, House Committee on Rural Development and Federal Lawmaker representing Remo Federal Constituency of Ogun State, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu while hosting members of the various factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Ogun Central Senatorial District. According to him, “any reasonable government must be responsible to the people who elect them into office, and must do what will put smiles on their faces, and not to add to their pains. But what is happening in Ogun State in the name of rebuilding existing roads are mere cosmetics which is adding to the poverty of the people as those whose houses were demolished were not compensated and where they did, not adequately”. He added further that for any meaningful development to happen in a state, employment generation must be given top priority by the government so as to engage several of the teeming youth roaming the streets. Hon. Adebutu however added that “employment generation must start from creating sustainable economic drivers like the Agro Cargo Airport, Kajola and Olokola Free Trade zones, all which have the potentials to put many of our youth in permanent employments”, saying that peoples’ factor is key in any political administration. He therefore admonished members of the PDP to shun every acts that is capable of dividing them so that they can replace the Amosun government with a government that has a human face and makes the people’s welfare its cardinal policy.
