Oguchi named MVP of Afrobasket 2015

D’Tigers’ shooting guard, Chamberlain Oguchi, has been awarded as the Most Valubale Player (MVP) of the just concluded Afrobasket Championship.

The 29-year-old starred as Nigeria beat arch-rivals 74-65, to win their first title ever.

He was presented with the top award by the tournament’s partner, Tissot, after the final game.

“Oguchi made three of his ten three-point attempts as part of a 3-of-11 shooting display on his way to a game-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Nigeria held off Angola 74-65 to claim their first-ever continental title,” FIBA reported.

Oguchi also topped the All-Star Five list of Afrobasket 2015, alongside his Nigeria teammate, Al-Farouk Aminu. Others in the All-Star Five are; Carlos Morais, Makram Ben Romdhane and Gorgui Dieng.

D’Tigers have clinched an automatic ticket for next year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
