Audu Ogbeh
Newly sworn-in Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh yesterday promised to boast agricultural research and marketing in order to reduce the importation of food.
He assured that the move would shift the country’s attention from oil and gas to agriculture.
The Minister made these remarks upon assumption of office along with the minister of state for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
Noting that Nigeria’s food importation burden amounted to about N22bn per annum, Ogbe stated that he was very glad to be given the opportunity to serve Nigeria as the Minister of Agriculture.
He further stressed that during his tenure, both the Minister of State and the Permanent Secretary would work together to achieve the expected objectives.
