The Kwara state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of seven suspects in connection with the armed robbery operation which took place in Offa town, Offa local government area of Kwara state on Thursday.
The state commissioner of police, Lawan Ado, while speaking on their arrest, told newsmen in Ilorin on Saturday that the hoodlums carted away some rifles at the police station where they first attacked before raiding the banks.
The CP, who confirmed that 17 people were feared dead as a result of the attack, said that nine policemen were also killed.
Ado said, “Seven suspects have been arrested so far. One suspect was arrested at Igosun, where the hoodlums abandoned seven vehicles and ran into the bush. The abandoned vehicles have been recovered and brought into the station and investigation is on.
“Seventeen persons were killed comprising of nine policemen, eight civilians. Five banks were attacked during the operation”.
