Odegbami warns NFF to stop putting pressure on coaches

Former captain of Nigeria’s national team, Segun Odegbami, has told the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), not to put undue pressure on coaches, as it will make them fail.

Odegbami said that giving the Super Eagles interim coaches a winning target in the friendly matches against Mali and Luxembourg was not a good idea.

“This is just a friendly match and there is no need making it a must-win for them because it will put them under intense pressure.

“You know as the team has just failed to qualify for the Nations Cup, there is the need to build for the World Cup qualifiers, so the most important thing is for the players to play good and understanding football.

“I am not saying we should not win because winning will enhance our rating ahead of the World Cup qualifying draws, but such should not be the cardinal reason for the match”, he said.
