Increased security presence were noticed along Barki Ladi, Heipang, Mararaban Jamare and Old Airport Junction Road, Jos, Saturday as former President Olusegun Obasanjo visited his son, Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo, who was injured during a gun battle with Boko Haram in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Col. Obasanjo had been receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the Plateau State capital.
The former president flew into Jos at about 6.00 pm and was received at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang by the Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ignatius Longam and Gbong Gwom Jos, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, Commander of the Special Task Force on Jos crisis, Major General David Eniete, Commissioner of Police as well as Director of the Department of State Security, (DSS).
Sunday Sun reports that from the airport, the ex-president and others proceeded to Obasanjo’s guest house on Wase Close where his son was believed to be recuperating.
The president’s son rushed to welcome him and the duo embraced each other.
While some say the younger Obasanjo might be at the 3 Armoured Division Medical Centre, other sources say he might have already been discharged and awaiting further directives from his superiors.
The former president, Col Obasanjo, the deputy governor, security chiefs and the Gbong Gwom Jos, were still at Wase Close as at last night.
