Obasanjo tells Buhari to investigate root cause of Boko Haram insurgency

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, Sunday, urged the federal government to carry out a thorough investigation into the root cause of the Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

Obasanjo made this call when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Kashim Shettima at the Government House Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The elder statesman was in the state on an official visit at the instance of the University of Maiduguri.

The former President and elder statesman lauded Nigerian military in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations. He specifically commended them for reducing the hostilities of the Boko Haram insurgents to the barest level.

The former military personnel, however, cautioned the federal and state governments on the need to slow down in its desire to quickly relocate the IDPs back to their recovered communities.
