The 8th Lagos State Assembly has just elected the lawmaker representing Agege Constituency 1, Mudashiru Obasa, as its Speaker.
The fourth term legislator was nominated by Mr. Olanrewaju Oshun of Mainland Constituency 2 in a motion that was seconded by Mr. Sola Giwa of Lagos Island constituency 2.
Obase, who is a loyalist of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was elected unopposed at the Assembly’s maiden meeting on Monday.
Meanwhile, a former Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Justice, Dr. Ali Ahmad, was also on Monday elected Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Ahmad, who was nominated by members-elect representing Shawo/Igboidun, Mr. Hassan Oyeleke, as a sole nominee, was consequently elected by the other 23 members of the 24-member House.
