Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has announced the death of his mother, Alhaja Wasliat Obanikoro.
According to him, she died in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness.
Alhaja Obanikoro was 95 years old.
Her son took to his official Twitter account, to share the details of her death and burial.
Obanikoro wrote: “My mother, Alhaja Wasilat Obanikoro died in the early hours of this morning after a very brief illness at the ripe old age of 95.
“Her death is saddening but I and my siblings are consoled that it was peaceful, in her own bed and also in the Holy Month of Ramadan.
“She will be buried this afternoon at Ikoyi Cemetery by 2pm after prayers at her residence in Barnabas Gemade Estate, Lagos Island.
“May we and all those bereaved in this period, find fortitude to bear our losses and may the departed rest in peace. Iya Lati, sleep on.”
