US President, Barrack Obama has arrived his father’s land of birth, Kenya since his election as America’s 44th president.
He is visiting without his family.
The president’s plane, Air Force One touched down at Nairobi’s international airport just after 8pm local time.
Obama’s visit has brought about the biggest security operation in the east African nation’s history.
During his visit, Obama will address an entrepreneurship summit and hold talks on trade and investment, security, counter-terrorism, democracy and human rights.
Obama was greeted by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta with a handshake and embrace as he stepped off his plane.
Also on hand to received Obama was his half-sister, Auma Obama.
The airport’s domestic terminal was shut down for the arrival and patrolled by US marines, CIA and secret service agents and Kenyan soldiers.
Around 10,000 police officers, nearly a quarter of the national force, were deployed in the capital.
Several major roads are closed to all but emergency and security vehicles.
This forced many people to stay at home, while banks and schools shut early on Friday.
