Godwin Obaje of Wikki Tourists has finished the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, as the top scorer.
Although he failed to score in their final day 2-0 win against Sunshine Stars on Sunday, Obaje capped an impressive campaign with 18 goals.
Wikki stayed top of the table for several weeks, but eventually fell off, as Enugu Rangers won the title . Obaje insists he will look back on the season as a successful one, especially after they clinched a CAF Confederation Cup ticket.
“Compared with last season we missed the continental ticket with some whiskers on goal difference, this season is hugely a successful one.
“I set out two targets at the start of the season to win the league title and the highest goal scorer award,” he told SuperSport.
“I’m not disappointed that we did not win the league crown though it would have made our day to be complete but I’m happy I achieved the individual award as well as a ticket to the continent.
“The final day clash 2-0 win against Sunshine Stars greatly helped us to the third finish and Confederation Cup ticket in the kitty.
“Generally, the out gone season is quite a good one for us,” Obaje said.
Wikki Tourists finished third spot with 57 points, six behind Rangers.
