OAU students beg Buhari to probe Vice-Chancellor

Students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, in their hundreds, on Friday pleaded with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the activities of the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bamitale Omole.

The students conveyed this message to the President through the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who was at the university to deliver a lecture, titled ‘Nexus between corruption and underdevelopment of Nigeria’ at the University’s Faculty of Arts.

They also bombarded the minister with requests that the Federal Government should ensure decent hostels for students on the campus, stressing that the ongoing war against corruption must not be restricted to the national level but should be brought to the universities.

The other students present for the lecture encouraged their activist-counterparts with applause, while the minister promised to meet with the VC to discuss the issue of students’ union leaders under suspension.

The minister, however, urged Nigerians to support the government in fighting graft, saying corruption had already started fighting back.
