NYSC: What Gov Abiodun promised corps members in Ogun

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), of conducive ambience so as to have a peaceful and rewarding service year.

The Governor made this known during the closing ceremony of 2019 Batch ‘B’, Stream 1 Orientation Course for corps members deployed to the state held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Sagamu.

The Governor, who was represented by the Acting Chairman of the state NYSC Governing Council Board and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr. Kolawole Fagboun, said his administration would implement policies and programmes that would be of great benefit to the state.

These programmes, according to him, would involve strategic methods in mapping out a direction for future growth and expansion of the socio–economic development to the fulfilment of “Building Our Future Together” mantra.

Abiodun urged the corps members to be more diligent, dedicated and law abiding in the discharge of their duties, admonishing them to shun truancy, cultism, drug abuse, as well as other forms of anti-social behaviours; while urging them to always engage in productive activities that would portray them as good ambassadors of the country.

His words, ‘’I charge you to begin to explore ways of contributing your own quota to the socio–economic development of our dear State and Nigeria at large; with this you can achieve faithful execution of various Community Development Projects and reflect on those good virtues and skills you have acquired in the course of induction“.

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Belinda Faniyi commended the State Government’s efforts, which he noted had gone a long way in making the scheme more fruitful in the State, appealing for reconsideration of the non–payment of monthly stipends to serving corps members.

She also enjoined organizations that engage the services of corps members to see to their welfare, as they had left their families to obey the clarion call of their fatherland.
