President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered an investigation into the death of Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who died in Kano State.
Although Buhari commiserated with the families of three Corps members, who recently passed away during the 2016 Batch B Orientation Programme in three States, he specifically asked for Ifedolapo’s death to be investigated.
Oladepo, a First Class graduate of Transport Management from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, died last Tuesday and was laid to rest in her hometown in Osogbo, Osun State.
In a series of tweets posted on his official Twitter page, Buhari said: “I’m saddened by the deaths of 3 NYSC members during the 2016 Batch ‘B’ Orientation. It is sad and unfortunate. May their souls rest in peace
“Chinyerum Elechi, Ifedolapo Oladepo & Monday Asuquo Ukeme, who passed on in Bayelsa, Kano & Zamfara, died answering the call to serve Nigeria.
“In particular, I have asked for an independent investigation into the actual circumstances behind the death in Kano of Miss Ifedolapo Oladepo.
“The Management of the NYSC must continue to do all within its powers to protect the lives of those under its charge.”
President Buhari also extended condolences to the Director-General and Management of the NYSC over the death of the youth corps members.
