Nyirenda appointed Zambia coach ahead of Nigeria clash

Zambia has confirmed the appointment of Wedson Nyirenda as the new national team head coach on an interim basis.

The Football Association of Zambia, explained that Nyirenda will take charge of the Chipolopolo, until they name a new foreign manager.

George Lwandamina, who was the man in charge before now, has been released to focus on Zesco United, who are competing in the CAF Champions League.

“The change is immediate and we believe that Mr Nyirenda will add immense value to the national team,” general secretary, Ponga Liwewe, stated.

“In view of the fact that Zesco united are engaged in the semifinal of the Caf Champions League with two consecutive matches approaching, the Football Association of Zambia released Mr George Lwandamina to focus on this assignment which is of equal importance to the country

“We believe that he can win the Champions league and are in a great position to do so.”
