The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been ordered by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to unfreeze company accounts linked to the Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial district, Abdullaziz Nyako.

Presiding Judge, Justice Babatunde Quadri while delivering judgement on Friday in a suit which was filed under the fundamental rights enforcement rules 2009, by Senator Nyako, ordered unconditional and immediate unfreezing of Senator Abdullaziz Nyakoand Blue Opal Nigeria Ltd accounts.

He also asked the EFCC to unseal Hillview Estates owned by the lawmaker.

Justice Quadri further averred that the prosecutor’s action did not only amount to gross violation of the applicant’s rights, but the freezing and forfeiture of Hillview property was unlawful and oppressive.

“The commission is hereby ordered to unfreeze the account of the applicant, unconditionally and forthwith.”

“The commission having sealed up the premises of the applicant since July 2014 should unseal it forthwith or better still open up the Hillview Estate immediately”, Justice Quadri ordered.

Senator Abdullaziz, the son of former governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd) had in June 2015 dragged the EFCC to court over the freezing of his company and personal accounts as well as his Estates in Abuja.
