Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), has ordered Council workers in Ekiti State to shun their postings to the 19 new local development areas.
This, it said, was due to the unresolved labour issues between the body and the state government.
The NULGE President in the state, Comrade Bunmi Ajimoko who confirmed the development in an interview said the action was taken in the best interest of the workers and the state.
“We are not opposed to the creation of new local governments or council, but certain issues must be resolved and clarified,” he said.
“The creation of new councils will, no doubt, mean more expenses on the part of the government.
Continuing, he listed the pending issues to include welfare and condition of service.
“We recently cried out over the issues such as CONMESS, CONHESS among others. The state government has not resolved them and our members are still denied these benefits and you want them to go and be using their hands to make ways in the forest.
“We told our members not to go to these new councils until all outstanding issues are resolved,” Ajimoko added.
