The Nigeria Union of Journalists, New Nigerian Newspaper chapel has elected new executive members.
After a keenly contest for various vacant positions, Malam Abdul-Azeez Ahmed Kadir emerged the chairman, while Sanni Aliu was voted unopposed as the vice chairman. Kunle Sanni- Secretary, Juliana Katung, Treasurer, while Mustapha Imrana emerged as the financial secretary.
Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kaduna State Council, who supervised the election, Comrade Domic Uzu, urged the elected officers to be transparent in their day to day activities and ensure that every transaction made should be recorded to avoid any act of embezzlement.
He tasked the new executive members to always be law abiding and often consult members before taking any decision, even as he tasked them to use all available means to ensure that the past executive members refund all the union money in their possession.
“Your election as the new Executive Members of the NUJ, NNN Chapel shows that your members have confidence in you. It is very important that you prove yourselves beyond reasonable doubt. Now that you have been elected, I urged you to as a matter of urgency use all available means to ensure that all monies in possession of the past executive members are refunded. They should be made accountable to every penny spent,” Uzu said.
Responding, Chairman, New Nigerian Chapel (NNN Chapel), Malam Abdul-Azeez Ahmed Kadir, thanked the members for the confidence repose on them adding, “we will not let you down.”
According to him, as the chairman of the chapel, he would not touch any kobo of the union, even as proper channels will be followed before any expenses will be made. .
