NUJ demands immediate release of Inuwa Bwala

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, National Secretariat, has joined many kicking against the incarceration of the publisher, National Trail Newspapers, Mr. Inuwa Bwala by the Borno state Police Command over alleged attempted murder of the Borno state deputy governor, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa in Marama town of Hawul local government area of Borno state two years ago.

A statement released by it’s National Secretary, Shuaibu Usman Leman, revealed that, there was no clear case against Mr. Inuwa Bwala, as the publisher was not on ground when the said incident occurred, adding that, there was also no confirmation whatsoever that any witness had testified on the claim anywhere.

“Instead, it was Durkwa that was said to have taken political thugs to Marama to harass the people in his usual manner just as he did to Senator Muhammed Ndume recently, a situation which earned him beating by the people of Marama,” the statement said.

“We, therefore, condemns in strong terms the continued detention of Inuwa Bwala by the Borno State Police Command at the instance of the Deputy Governor, Dukwa. We call the immediate and unconstitutional release of Bwala from this politically motivated detention,” the statement added.
