NSCDC parades two men who duped businesswoman of N700, 000 in Kwara

Two suspects involved in money doubling and fraud were Thursday paraded at the Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, for attempting to defraud a woman to the tune of N700, 000.

The suspects had promised the businesswoman they would double the money using chemicals.

The state Commandant of the Corps, Pedro Awili who paraded the unnamed suspects said they collected over N100, 000 from a businesswoman at Adeta in Ilorin West Local Government Area with an intent to use the money to buy a certain chemical to double the money.

Awili said luck ran out on them when they came to collect the balance of N500, 000.

The woman realized that she had been duped and alerted the corps which swung into action.

“This led to the arrest of the two men who gave fake names and states of origin to the woman,” the Commandant added, noting that the two men confessed to the crime and pleaded for leniency.

“They claimed to be doing it for the first time,” Awili said.

He, however, warned the people to always be careful of who they deal with and always be security conscious.
