A combined task force team monitoring the regulation of petrol price in Oyo State has dispensed about two thousand litres of Premium Motor Spirit also known as Petrol at a petrol station found hoarding and selling the product at 200 per litre.
The team which comprises state government officials, DPR personnel, and NSCDC officials, moved round Ibadan metropolis to ensure availability of the product on Wednesday.
Some attendants at one of the filling stations located along Akobo-Oju Irin Road, hurriedly switched off their engine and absconded when they sighted the team.
They were later arrested through intelligence of the security personnel and information by residents.
The attendants were then compelled to sell the products at the official pump price.
The team later sealed five petrol stations for the same offence.
Some of the petrol stations sealed include KB PETROL station Ashi; Roylab Petrol Akobo; Asfad Petrol Station Akobo and SWORT Oil Ashi.
Deputy Controller, DPR, Ibadan Office, Mr. Sodiq Ibrahim appealed to people not to panic as the team will ensure availability of the product.
State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. John Adewoye maintained that illegality being perpetrated by the marketers will no more be condone and anybody caught will face full wrath of the law.
He said the command has deployed more patrol vehicles to curb the current fuel scarcity in Oyo State.
Some of the buyers who said they celebrated the christmas in search of fuel, thanked the government for intervention.
