Ahead of this Saturday governorship election in Kogi State, the Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu, has ordered the deployment of 5,000 personnel and sniffer dogs to the state.
Muhammadu disclosed this in a statement issued by the NSCDC spokesman, Mr Emmanuel Okeh, in Abuja on Wednesday.
The statement noted that the deployment was in line with NSCDC’s resolve to provide adequate security before, during and after the poll.
It said the NSCDC equallly had the mandate to monitor activities of political parties as well as political actors through surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Muhammdu said measures have been put in place to ensure the security of lives and property.
He called on politicians to play by the rules and not take the law into their hands.
Muhammdu also charged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against indulging in electoral violence as anyone caught making trouble would be made to face the full wrath of the law
