The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), said it charged 32 criminal cases to court in Kaduna last year, even as it pledged to redouble its efforts in 2019.
Alhaji Modu Bunu, the State Commandant declared this while speaking on the performance of the command particularly as it relates to the prosecution of criminal offences last year.
A Statement issued and signed by the state Public Relations Officer of the command, ASC Orndir Terzungwe, said out of the number, the command secured 11 convictions resulting in different jail terms for offenders, 18 cases are still pending in different courts while three are taken over by the State Ministry of Justice.
According to him, ” breakdown of the offences reveals that some had to do with criminal conspiracy and theft, abetment, possession of stolen items, rape, defilement of child and incest.”
“Others, were cheating, impersonation, dishonestly receiving stolen property, burglary, cruelty to person and criminal breach of trust.” He said
His words: “The Kaduna state commandant, who expresses delight on the development, attributed the feat to the training of the command’s prosecutors three years ago when State Ministry of Justice granted FIAT to the command.”
