The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command has said its anti-vandal unit arrested a total of 20 suspected vandals.
The command said it also destroyed 10 illegal refineries and impounded 22 trucks loaded with adulterated petroleum products, such as Automobile gasoline oil (AGO) and Premium motor spirit (PMS) suspected to have been siphoned from vandalised oil pipeline.
The state commandant of the corps, Commandant Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla disclosed this to reporters in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.
He said majority of the arrest were made in the Ondo Southern Senatorial District which is the riverine area of the state.
The commandant also disclosed that 10 pumping machines, three speed boat engines, 330 metres of BEDC cables, and prepaid metres were seized from the vandals.
The cases and suspects involved have all been charged to court for prosecution.
The commandant said his administration was committed to free the state from illegal bunkering activities and other forms of criminality.
He equally said the corps will continue to wage war against saboteurs of the country’s economy.
He advised the good people of Ondo State to cooperate with security agencies by giving useful and timely information, which will help to free the state from pipeline vandalism.
