NPFL Week 5 Review: Abia end Heartland run, Enyimba win at Taraba

Mfon Udoh struck the only goal of the match as Enyimba recorded a 1-0 win away at FC Taraba. The People’s Elephants were desperate not to lose a second successive away fixture, after last weekend’s defeat to Kano Pillars. They now have eight points after five games.

Giwa FC mauled Akwa United 4-0 at home, thanks to goals from Ibrahim Shuaibu, Amos Gyang, Sali Mohammed and Ocheme Udoh. The result heaps more pressure on the Akwa United’s coach, Zachary Baraje.

Dolphins beat Rangers 1-0 at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt; El Kanemi Warriors also pipped Sunshine Stars by a lone goal at the Kano Pillars’ Stadium.

Abia Warriors ended Heartland’s perfect start to the season, with a 1-0 away win in Owerri, with Ifeanyi Onyeali getting a late winner for the Umuahia team, like he did last year.

Shooting Stars defeated Kwara United 2-0, Nasarawa United won 2-1 against Kano Pillars in Lafia, while Gabros International needed two late goals, to beat Lobi Stars 2-0 at home.
