Wikki Tourists’ Godwin Obaje, has snubbed a mid-season transfer to several Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs.
Obaje, who is currently the league’s top scorer, has rejected moves to Enyimba, FC IfeanyiUbah and Heartland.
Enyimba were desperate to sign the 13-goal striker, to boost their CAF Champions League squad, but he refused to join them.
“It was the same when FC Ifeanyiubah and Heartland approached him,” Abbas Gungura, image maker of Wikki Tourists, told Complete Sports.
“We’re lucky that Obaje has the love for Wikki Tourists and wants to win trophies with us hence he declined to leave and instead restated his commitment to Wikki Tourists.
“If not, we would not have been able to hold him back because, naturally, when a player makes up his mind to leave, it is absolutely difficult to hold him back, more so when it involves overtures from big and rich clubs like FC Ifeanyiubah and Enyimba.”
Wikki Tourists are currently of the NPFL table on goals difference.
