Shooting Stars defender, Olawale Jimoh, has called on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), to do more in improving the welfare of players.
Jimoh stated that players are the most important part of the game and should be top priority for club administrators.
“I’ve had the opportunity to play for a couple of clubs in the local scene and must say that players aren’t well treated at all. We play football with our hearts yet after working we beg to collect our entitlement. It’s really sad,” he told Goal.
“FC Taraba management are owing me a backlog of salaries of well over seven months and nothing has been said about it till date, same [with] Kwara United but I just have to move on. Some players have had to forfeit this huge amount yet there’s a huge uncertainty that you will receive what’s due to you.
“I hope that the League Management Company (LMC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will continue to do more as we continue to see obvious improvement in the league.”
