The second stanza of the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, will kick off on Sunday across the country, after a break that lasted over a month.

Plateau United sit atop the table with 35 points, followed closely by MFM Lagos and El-Kanemi Warriors on 33 points each.

At the other end of the log, newly-promoted Remo Stars finished the first stanza rock bottom with 19 points from a possible 57 points.

They are neck deep in relegation waters with Wikki Tourists, 3SC, Gombe United, defending champions, Enugu Rangers, Sunshine Stars and Kano Pillars.

The League Management Company (LMC) held a midseason review session last Sunday in Abuja, ahead of the resumption of the second round, where the 20 clubs passed a vote of confidence on the league organisers.
