NPFL: Plateau Utd FC signs 8 players

Nigeria Professional Football League leaders, Plateau United Football Club of Jos have confirmed the signing of 8 new players as they intensify efforts to maintain their top spot on the league table. This was contained in a press statement signed by the Media Officer of the Club, Albert Dakup.

It reads, “The 8 players include 2 from the feeder team, 3 are players of the team who were not registered at the beginning of the season due to unforseen circumstances while the remaining are joining from other clubs.

“Top among those who are joining the team from other clubs are Nigeria 2009 Golden Eaglets revelation, Stanley Okoro and CHAN 2016 attacking midfielder Bature Yaro who joined from Wikki Tourists.

“Others are Hamza Awolabi, Myep Bulus-Ghai, Emmanuel Odafe, Daddy Morris, Clinton Peter and Damian Longmiap.”

Dakup explained that the new recruits who are tested players in their own right have been training with the rest of the squad about a fortnight ago.

He further disclosed that management of the club decided to engage the services of the players after consulting with the Technical crew who gave the list of the players.

The Club’s image maker expressed optimism that with the acquisition of the new players, the team will correct some of the lapses noticed in the first round with a view to sustaining the objectives of the club which is picking a continental ticket at the end of the season.

Plateau United who lost 1-0 to Rangers International in Enugu last Wednesday in a rescheduled week 18 encounter are still occupying the top spot on the NPFL league table with 35 points from 19 games.
