Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Niger Tornadoes, will begin training for the 2016/2017 season on Monday.

The Minna club initially fixed Wednesday, January 4 as resumption date, while full training was scheduled to commence on Thursday.

However, head coach Abubakar Bala, says they have decided to bring the dates forward, to accomodate the friendly matches against Nasara FC and Sanders FC.

“We will resume for the new season on Sunday, 1 January to commence full time training the next day, Monday against an early broadcasted date of Wednesday, 4 January to start training on Thursday,” he told SuperSports.

“We have to bring forward the resumption date to accommodate as well as prepare for the friendly matches we have against Nasara FC and Sanders FC in Zaria between 7 and 8 January respectively.

“We will depart for Zaria on Thursday, 5 January to engage Nasara FC on Saturday while we face Sander FC on Sunday.

“Thereafter we will head off to Ibadan on Monday, 9 January to kick-start the final phase camping.

“We hope to engage top-flight side, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in a friendly match on 11 January in Ijebu Ode once the plan is agreed by both sides.

“Then we will move down to Lagos for the NPFL matchday 1 clash against Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC at the Agege Township Stadium.

“These are our final build-up programmes that will herald our campaign in the new top-flight and we are hopeful to enjoy a smooth and successful ride in the domestic elite league.”
