NPFL Match Day 4: Rivers United, Plateau United remain unbeaten

Plateau United continued their unbeaten start to the new season, as they held Gombe United to a 0-0 draw in Gombe in a Match Day 4 fixture played on Wednesday.

They are now two points clear of second-placed Rivers United, who have also not lost a game this term.

Rivers United were also held to a goalless draw by FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi.

Lobi Stars won their second home game of the season, with a comprehensive 3-0 hammering of newly-promoted ABS FC, at the Aper Aku Stadium.

Kingsley Eduwo scored the first two goals of the encounter, but Nwangwa Nyima added a third deep into stoppage time.

Nasarawa United thrashed another newly-promoted side, Remo Stars, 3-1. Abdulrahman Bashir opened scoring for the Solid Miners, before Awoyemi Abiodun equalized for the visitors. Douglas Achiv and Emmanuel Makama scored to guarantee maximum points.

In Akure, Sunshine Stars needed Sikiru Alimi’s late goal from a rebound after his penalty was initially saved, to edge out Kano Pillars 1-0.

Shooting Stars drew 1-1 with MFM FC in Ibadan, while the Abia Derby between Abia Warriors and Enyimba ended goalless. El-Kanemi Warriors beat Katsina United 1-0 in Maiduguri and Niger Tornadoes secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Wikki Tourists.

Akwa United however remained winless after four games, as they were held to a goalless draw by reigning champions Enugu Rangers.
